B.D.S (Lond) 1992
GDC No. 68409
Derien qualified as a dentist in 1992 from Guy’s Hospital, London. She worked in various NHS practices in South-East London gaining experience, but as she was born and schooled in Southampton, she returned to the area twenty years ago and started a family.
Derien started work at Smile Dental Care seven years ago and brought a following from her previous practices. Prior to Smile, Derien worked at Westfield.
Preventative and periodontal dentistry are the areas Derien enjoys and likes to employ minimally invasive techniques (which suit the most nervous patients) where possible.
Recently Derien has become a Specialist Advisor for the Care Quality Commission, inspecting dental surgeries to ensure they conform to the standards set by the Authority. The role also helps practices to develop constantly so Derien is very pleased to be part of this National improvement.
Derien has a husband and two teenagers at home. She spends her spare time walking her dog, Dave, and has recently taken up playing hockey. She is an active member of Romsey Hockey Club, involved in matches and the committee.
