Dental Implants

Are you missing a tooth or teeth? Perhaps you are putting up with a partial or full denture that is increasingly uncomfortable? If either of these scenarios is the case, then you must consider dental implants as a way of getting your quality of life back.

Dental implants are the ideal way of replacing missing teeth and are actually stronger than the natural teeth that they replace. Leaving that gap in your teeth isn't a long-term option; over time the remaining teeth will move into the gap and can cause all sorts of unforeseen issues.

If you have a difficult or uncomfortable denture, dental implants can also be the answer. The latest dental techniques now allow us to fit a fixed set of teeth on a number of dental implants. Imagine never having to choose the soup over steak in the restaurant again?! It can be difficult for those without dentures to understand the constant, low level aggravation and discomfort associated with them. We do understand and can help you escape them.

What is involved?

Initially we will see you for a consultation to see if you are suitable for dental implants. Most adults are, but we will need to carry out a full check and take x-rays. At this stage we can explain how the treatment will proceed and answer any questions that you may have. We can also advise on payment options.

If you are happy to proceed we will arrange an appointment at which the implant(s) will be placed. Depending on the number of implants placed, we will advise you on how long this will take. The procedure is straightforward and simply involves us lifting a flap of gum, and placing a titanium implant into your jawbone as a new 'root'. Once this appointment is concluded, we will arrange to see you again in a couple of weeks just to ensure that all is as it should be. We generally then leave the titanium root for around 3 months so that it can fuse properly into the jawbone. After this, we will then arrange an appointment with you to come back in so that we can place a life-like, beautiful porcelain restoration on top. That's it - you have a beautiful new tooth (teeth) that should last a lifetime.

So, still happy with that gap?! Still happy to put up with that denture?! If not, why not book an appointment by calling us on 02380 263026 or visiting our Contact Us page.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.
